Memphis, TN, USA (April 26, 2013) – Buckman Chairman Kathy Buckman Gibson was presented today with the Legends Award from the Women’s Foundation of Greater Memphis. The award was presented at the Foundation’s Annual Tribute Luncheon.
The path to the awards ceremony began last November when the Foundation opened its call for nominations for women who demonstrate outstanding achievement, community commitment and exemplary leadership, who personify the mission of the Women's Foundation and inspire others to strive for a better community for all.
At the ceremony, recipients were honored with a presentation from renowned artists and writers of works of art and prose that personify the Legends Award Honorees' lifetime accomplishments and contributions to Memphis and beyond.
The other Legends Award Honorees were Dr. Rosie Phillips Bingham, Carolyn Chism Hardy, Hazel G. Moore, Dr. Barbara U. Prescott, and Rachel Shankman.
In receiving the Award, Ms. Buckman Gibson thanked those who have been with her through her career and community work. "Each of you has played a role in helping me throughout my life and career to do what I have done, and to even be in a position to receive this honor," she stated.
